Mr. Alabbasi is a qualified Electrical Engineer with a BSc degree in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Bahrain, class of 1988. He also has an MBA in Financial Management from Hull University, UK, which he obtained in 2003. He began his working career on 1st October 1988 with Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC) as a trainee graduate electrical engineer. Having undergone extensive training and development both in Bahrain as well as overseas, Mr. Alabbasi has gone on to hold a number of senior positions in GPIC, including Electrical Supervisor in the Maintenance Department, Training Superintendent in the Human Resources Department, and Safety and Security Superintendent in the Safety, Health and Environment Department, before being promoted to Safety, Health and Environment Manager, then moving to be Technical Services Manager and now his current position as Plants Operation Manager.
Mr. Alabbasi is a member of Bahrain’s Occupational Safety and Health Council appointed by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, a Board Member of the Bahrain Health and Safety Society, as well as a member of the Board of Delegates at the National Safety Council in the United States of America.
Mr. Alabbasi is also a member of a number of other professional and social societies including the National Safety Council (NSC), the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA).
