18 May 2017

Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) pavilion during the opening of the first Bahrain-Egypt joint exhibition held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, at the Bahrain International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

He was welcomed by company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, who thanked him for the visit and taking the time to look at the GPIC’s high-quality fertilisers and chemicals, produced in state of the art factories by following strict quality, safety and environmental standards.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation at the GPIC’s contributions to the fertiliser industry and its co-operation with Egyptian companies.

He praised the capabilities of the company and its achievements over the years as well as the distinction it has achieved in the production of petrochemicals and fertilizers. He also applauded the GPIC’s contributions and its important role in supporting specialised exhibitions and events in Bahrain.

Dr. Jawahery thanked His Highness on his and the company employees’ behalf and spoke about the GPIC’s role in serving the community.

Dr. Jawahery said the exhibition had fulfilled the desire and commitment of the leadership, which had earlier been achieved as result of official visits between leaders of the two brotherly countries.

He said the GPIC's participation was in response to the company board’s policies to promote Bahrain as an important industrial and investment centre in the Gulf and Middle East.

He said such participation was a good opportunity to promote Bahrain as an important centre for specialized joint exhibitions and demonstrated its potential to efficiently host and organize similar events.

Dr. Jawahery also thanked Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Khalid Abdulrahman Almoayyed and its members for organizing the event, which attracted interest from major companies, businessmen and individuals.

The exhibition aimed to explore more opportunities for economic cooperation between the Bahrain and Egypt and to increase trade between them.
