Egyptian President H.E. Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) stand during the opening of the Egypt International Fertilizer Industry Conference and Exhibition on February 14.

National Oil and Gas Authority Secretary General and Company Board Chairman H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan, along with Bahrain’s Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and a number of officials were at hand to receive the dignitary and his delegation.

H.E. Dr. Al Sharyan expressed great satisfaction at the close relations between Bahrain and Egypt and said these had been consolidated after the visit of His Majesty King Hamad to Egypt. The Chairman gave the visitors a detailed explanation on developments in the oil and gas sector in Bahrain under the leadership of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil.

H.E. Dr. Al Sharyan paid tribute to H.E. the President’s historic visit to the exhibition and the Company’s stand as well as his personal interest in every exhibit. He stressed the importance of taking part in such events that highlight the development of Bahrain’s oil companies.

H.E. Dr. Al Sharyan thanked all concerned with making excellent preparations for the event and expressing gratitude for the welcome and the hospitality for the Bahrain delegation.

More than 400 exhibitors took part in the event, which was attended by around 10,000 visitors from 20 countries. It was held at the state-of-the-art 12,000 square metre Cairo International Conference Centre.

The event brought together government officials, senior executives and decision makers to work together to identify and meet challenges and discuss new opportunities in the energy field.

Other events held along with the conference focussed on Egypt’s position in the petroleum sector and women in the industry. These comprised of 28 technical sessions in 10 categories and discussed complex subjects in the energy sector.
British Petroleum Chief Executive Officer Mr. Bob Dudley; Italian company ENI Chief Executive Mr. Claudio Descalza and Kuwait Energy head Ms. Sara Akbar were among those who addressed the conference.
