The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) took part in the First Agricultural Education Fair organised at the Bahrain Training Institute.
The fair, held under the patronage of Education Minister H.E. Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, on the theme, Agricultural Education for a Prosperous Economy, was part of the recommendations of the GPIC Board of Directors on supporting environmental trends and taking care of elements of sustainability.
The three-day exhibition was inaugurated by Ministry of Education Resources and Services Undersecretary H.E. Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Jumaa, and was attended by several officials from the Ministry and educational institutions.
GPIC contributes high-quality international standards Urea produced by the Company to global markets and is also distributing large amounts in local markets to support farmers and in the garden sector.
The Company also distributes educational booklets on the best ways to use Urea as part of a successful Green Wave Campaign by its Agri-Nutrients Committee.
In a statement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery praised the Company’s participation in preserving the environment and gardens and spoke of its commitment to promote the agricultural sector and support it in various ways. He stressed on the environmental effectiveness of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, which is consistent with the higher goals of the Company.
Dr. Jawahery said the fair needs encouragement from all sides since it provided an opportunity for participants and farmers to display their products and agricultural experience, including locally produced crops, fertilizers and nutrients.
He said the Company is committed to protecting the environment as well as maintaining a balance between elements; taking advantage of the good ones. He said GPIC had been working on observing these principles and playing a leading role in carrying out the ethical and social responsibility toward environmental surroundings, and had worked diligently and sincerely to sustain its surroundings.
Dr. Jawahery spoke of the importance of the educational exhibition and stressed GPIC’s participation reflects its determination to protect the environment and contribute to spreading social awareness of the importance of the environment and in dealing with it properly.
GPIC Marketing Manager Mr. Ahmed Mahmood and other officials represented the Company.
A diverse selection of different companies and institutions, public and private sector representatives and others interested in the agricultural sector, as well as enthusiasts and lovers of agriculture were present at the exhibition.
There were a number of competitions, lectures and seminars for visitors given by experts in the agricultural sector.
The exhibition sought to enhance the capacity for innovation in the agricultural field, and to choose the best ideas regarding the participation of individuals in the field of agriculture.
It also aimed to attract locally agricultural practices while encouraging interested participants to participate in activities and programmes relating to the agricultural field.
