Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery expressed his deepest admiration and pride in the launch of the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women Empowerment officially announced by H.E Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday 13 March 2017 at the UN headquarters in New York.

Dr. Jawahery stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain is proud of the launch of the award for the public and private sectors, stressing that there is no doubt that the global version of the Award will contribute to the empowerment of women in countries that are in dire need of such empowerment, to take advantage of the abilities and skills of women in all sectors. He praised the stringent criteria of the prestigious Award, which is overseen by a team of international judges known for their expertise and qualifications.

Dr. Jawahery explained that the launch of the global version of the prestigious Award during the forum is a moment that history will record with great pride and will serve as a historic moment for the Kingdom of Bahrain. He mentioned that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen on women empowerment and development in the Kingdom’s various sectors and fields. The Kingdom of Bahrain is a role model for enhancing the status of women and enabling them to contribute politically, economically and socially to the Country.

He added that Her Royal Highness has been able to emphasize the role of the Supreme Council for Women and highlight it as an advisory and reference for all matters pertaining to the Bahraini women, where the council itself provides expertise and management in the field of women's development and progress, as the Council works under the leadership of Her Royal Highness on the integration of women’s workplace needs that enable them to be an integral part in the development of the Kingdom. In addition the Council encourages Bahraini women to exercise their rights and take part in critical decision making.

As a result of GPIC’s commitment to women empowerment, and its continuous efforts to provide women with ample training opportunities to better equip them for leadership positions, the Company has been able to win local version of Her Royal Highness Award for Women Empowerment in the years 2008 and 2015. GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery had the privilege of receiving both Awards from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW). Winning the prestigious Awards serve as great support and encouragement for the development and appreciation of all GPIC’s women employees.
