The Learning and Leadership Academy at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) organised a training course on Leadership and Personnel Management in the International Work Environment, in collaboration with the European Management Centre.

Topics covered included key concepts of management, including elements of a successful manager, an understanding of different ways of thinking in human beings, forming an integrated working team, delegation and assignment methods, staff assessment and conflict resolution. Employees from various Company departments took part in the course.

GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said the Company is keen to continue training its employees, their main assets, so that they remain in contact with all developments in their professional and related fields. He said the Board of Directors is keen to develop the Company’s human by engaging them in seminars, training courses and workshops to create an ideal work environment.

Dr. Jawahery said that good governance would lead to more work and continuous success. He said the relationship between the Company’s Management and the workers is one of the characteristics of an important work environment and directly affects employees’ job satisfaction and their readiness to work.

He also praised the Academy’s important role in organising and implementing such training courses and for its ability to keep abreast of the latest training programmes that contribute to upgrading employees’ skills.

He said GPIC had a succession system based on preparation, training and equipping of the Company's qualified personnel in place. The Company, he added, had set up an ambitious training and development programme for this, which made it possible for young national talent to take on leadership positions.

Participants thanked Dr. Jawahery and all those responsible for organizing the programme, which gave them the opportunity to train, learn and refine important aspects of their personal skills. They said the information they gained was useful in enriching ideas and visions in the field of management and in team spirit.

GPIC, in the past few years, has made great strides in the field of development and training in terms of quantity and content in the belief that the pivotal role of education and training supports the overall development process in Bahrain and achieves the goal of investing in the human resources.

The Academy plays a pivotal role in the training process and the development of the Company's cadres. It has the latest equipment, including a model of GPIC complex. It also has a simulator, which enables trainees to monitor operations and training on the various scenarios during actual operations.
