The Executive Management of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) held a meeting on its leadership development programme with the Founder President of SteppingStone Global Jean Nocolai.

This was the first in a series of meetings to be held over the next six months to ensure a succession plan at GPIC and identify Company Officials to take over senior management positions.

The GPIC launched a successful programme in 2013 in association with the Hay Group on evaluating and developing its future leaders. SteppingStone Global designed the programme specifically for GPIC after preliminary analysis of a series of interviews with Executive Management and others that aimed to stimulate high performance by improving individual and institutional capacities.

This programme is in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and that of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to make Bahrain a centre of knowledge in the Arabian Gulf region.

Meanwhile, in its celebration of Bahraini Women's Day 2017, the GPIC has committed to hiring more Bahraini women to support and encourage them to achieve the highest levels in the Company’s functional structure.

The meeting was presided over by the GPIC Youth Committee Chairperson, Ms. Ruqayah Ishaq, who said the Company is keen for young people to understand how to achieve the desired maximum benefit from this programme.

In a statement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said the Company, since its inception, realized that efficiency alone is not enough to run well. A team of qualified and motivated personnel were equally important and formed an integral part of the Company.

He said the Company pays great attention to the development of its cadres since they are an important element of its success. He said GPIC has highly efficient and professional technical staff that works hard on achieving the objectives of sustainability in line with the business strategies of oil and gas companies.

GPIC Human resources Manager Mr. Yousef Fakhroo said the Company is happy to start work on the Leadership Development Programme and stressed in particular the manner in which the senior management team too part in the strategic initiative. He said this is the first initiative of its kind between the Company and appreciated the efforts and support to develop Bahraini talent.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Nicolai said he was happy working on the programme with a committed group of leaders. He said this is characterised by the Company’s keenness to get the most out of it.
