Outgoing Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain H.E. Mr. Ahmed Abdul Samad was received at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) at the end of his tenure.
Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery received the ambassador in the presence of members of the Executive Management and Company officials.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed cooperation between Malaysian industrial companies and GPIC at all levels during the ambassador’s tenure.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jawahery praised the strong friendship with the Ambassador and described him as one of the best in promoting his Country's relations with Bahrain at all levels.
He pointed out that the Ambassador showed great interest in increasing cooperation between Malaysian companies and GPIC and said the Company’s board had given this great importance in view of the Malaysian companies’ experience in the field of petrochemical and fertilizer industry, as well as in the field of advanced manufacturing equipment and spare parts GPIC needs.
Dr. Jawahery said Bahrain’s National Oil and Gas Authority is keen on closer ties with foreign companies in general and with Malaysian companies in particular.
He said GPIC had exported 40,000 metric tonnes of methanol to Malaysian customers since its establishment, in addition to providing them with storage facilities in Singapore and China to enable easy access to regional Asian markets.
Dr. Jawahery expressed the hope that cooperation would continue at this high level with the new Ambassador. He thanked the outgoing envoy for his contribution in promoting bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and increasing cooperation in all fields.
The Ambassador acknowledged the close ties with GPIC and thanked Dr. Jawahery and other Company officials for the welcome and the hospitality. He expressed great satisfaction at the high level of cooperation that links GPIC and several Malaysian companies and stressed the co-operation would contribute to further consolidation of industrial relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador also thanked Dr. Jawahery for his efforts and his interest in furthering the cooperation, which contributed to the success of his diplomatic career. He gave his best wishes to the Government and the people of Bahrain for further progress and prosperity, and also wished the Company all the progress, success and excellence.
