The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) received a delegation from the Rotary Club of Sulmaniya, led by President Ms. Amira Ismail, as part of its desire to strengthen co-operation with Clubs, professional associations and private charities.
Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Executive Management welcomed the delegation and briefed the members on GPIC’s business philosophy, strategy and operations. The visitors were also told about the methodology in management, operations, production and export and the Company’s achievements in the field of safety, quality, environmental conservation and contributions to the community.
The visitors keenly listened to the brief on training Bahrainis and a desire to provide them with technical skills as well as efforts to enhance their leadership qualities. The delegation was briefed on the state of the art carbon dioxide recovery plant, which contributes substantially to the protection of the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to very low levels.
The guests learnt about the activities of the Academy of Leadership and Learning and the eLearning Centre as well as upcoming expansion projects through which the Company intends to increase production in the future.
The delegation then went around the Company complex where they witnessed the harmony between the industry and the environment. They later visited GPIC Club where a luncheon had been organised in their honour.
In a statement, Dr. Jawahery said the visit was an opportunity make the community aware of Bahrain’s great development in the field of petrochemicals and fertilizers and how GPIC had come to be known as a model in this sector with its modern facilities.
Dr. Jawahery praised the Club’s significant contributions towards Bahraini society and to encourage scientific, educational and cultural programmes, strengthening friendship and fundraising to support charitable and social work.
Ms. Ismail expressed gratitude at the reception and the hospitality and said the delegation greatly admired the sophisticated operational processes and plants comprising of the latest state of the art facilities and infrastructure.
The visitors also praised the work GPIC is doing outside of the industrial scope of work as part of its social responsibility towards the local community, which, it said leaves a positive and influential impression on society and individuals.
The President said she would pass on her observations to their colleagues at the club and brief them on Bahrain’s potential in the fast developing industrial sector.
