The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has been awarded the Gold Medal of excellence in the field of social responsibility during the opening of the 11th Session of the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility regional forum in the United Arab Emirates.
Diplomatic corps, delegations from several institutions, Government Departments and Ministries, as well as heads of regional private sector companies were present during the Ceremony.
GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery was also awarded the Golden Shield Award and a Certificate of Excellence in the field of social responsibility and in recognition of his leadership and outstanding efforts in the implementation of programmes and mechanisms in the field.
These efforts have contributed to strengthening GPIC’s position as being committed to the development of the local communities and in helping them cope with the massive regional and global development.
GPIC Information Technology and Knowledge Department Manager Mr. Adnan Abdul Razak Al Mahmoud, presented a working paper on the Company’s philosophy and programmes, as well as its experience in the field of social responsibility.
He also spoke about GPIC giving importance to a culture of social responsibility and making it part of its corporate culture to better achieve the desired results. The paper highlighted the importance of considering social responsibility a part of sustainable development and a standard to measure the success of corporate performance.
Company Managing Director H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Al Musaiteer congratulated the Executive Management and all employees on the achievement and applauded their important contributions to the community. He thanked the Chairman and the Board of Directors on their continued support and guidance.
In a statement, Dr. Jawahery thanked the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility for having nominated him for the award and certificate of excellence. He said the award is not an achievement for him personally but was due to teamwork and professional management. He said GPIC had become a role model in the field and invited institutions to adopt the UN Development Goals and to contribute to make social responsibility a reality and a step towards sustainable development and a better future for the coming generations.
