Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Undersecretary of Agriculture and Marine Resources H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) stand on the sidelines of the Bahrain International Garden Show.
The Undersecretary spoke about the high quality of GPIC products and their export all over the world. He said GPIC-produced Urea is in great demand and reiterated his commitment to support agriculture, the protection of the environment and creation of green spaces.
The Undersecretary said GPIC’s Urea, in particular, contributed to increase in production of lemon trees and buckthorn in Bahrain. He thanked and praised GPIC Management and all employees for their efforts in making high quality products.
The Undersecretary was briefed on the Company’s activities towards the protection of the environment and to support the agricultural sector. He also looked at samples of the high quality GPIC products exported to the world's largest markets.
Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery thanked the Undersecretary on visiting the GPIC pavilion and praising the quality of the Company’s products. He stressed the Company has this year given new impetus to the Ministry and distributed to them its Urea product.
The support, he said, comes within the framework of the Company's orientation to support environmental projects and encourage anything that would increase the green areas along with promoting the growing interest in the agricultural sector in Bahrain.
He also announced GPIC’s support of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, recently launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, as well as her support of the development of the agricultural development system.
Dr. Jawahery appreciated the role played by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning in spreading awareness about the agricultural sector and its support to farmers and their rehabilitation. He stressed the Company would continue to cooperate with the Ministry to support the agricultural sector and its development.
The GPIC annually provides support to the Ministry in the form of its Urea product. This year, it donated 400 bags of 50 kilos each, equivalent to 20 tonnes and contributed to the government's efforts to increase the green area in the Country.
