Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) Board Chairman H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan led a high-powered Company delegation to take part in the Twelfth Annual Forum of the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) in Dubai.

GPIC Vice Chairman H.E. Mr. Yousef bin Abdulrahman Al-Zamil and Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, along with other officials, were among those who attended.

A group of the Company's women engineers also took part in the deliberations at the most prominent gathering of the region’s petrochemical companies, which reflected its keen desire to support plans for their empowerment.

In a statement, Dr. Jawahery said the Company is committed to the strategy of developing and training all employees, with a particular emphasis on women, to promote their empowerment.

He said supporting women and empowering them was no longer an option but a duty for decision-makers and GPIC’s management is committed to be a role model in the field.

He said such support is in line with the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of His Majesty the King and president of the Supreme Council for Women.

Dr. Jawahery praised the important role of Her Royal Highness to promote women at home and abroad and empowering them. He said this shows the leadership’s appreciation of the role of women engineers, especially those at GPIC.

The forum this year was held on the theme, "The development of the chemicals sector: the beginning of a new era", where speakers presented specialized working papers.

The GPCA has created forum for discussion through which petrochemical and chemical companies communicate and share their concepts and ideas. This has enabled it to gain a good regional and global reputation.

It also aims to strengthen the role of the countries in the region to formulate policies and regulations related to the chemical and petrochemical sector and to ensure sustainable and socially responsible growth of the industry.

It provides opportunities for member companies to communicate across different platforms and to exchange information and expertise to ensure the development and prosperity of the industry in the Gulf region.
