The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company has reported it produced 404,468 metric tons of Ammonia, Urea and Methanol in the first quarter of this year. The achievement came in full compliance with safety and health standards and without a single lost time accident, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said.

He said it was also the result of the Company’s continuous approach to modernization and development of operations, plant equipment, commitment to carrying out regular maintenance and providing the latest available training programmes for employees.

Participation in conferences, exhibitions and workshops to develop employees’ professionalism and raising their efficiency of their different sites was also a significant part of the Company’s programme.

The President spoke of the Company's ability to keep pace with excellence in an industry full of challenges and competition at all levels. He said such success had been achieved as a result of the strategy set up by the Board of Directors under the Chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Sharyan, taking into account the rapidly changing conditions and changes it witnesses.

Dr. Jawahery also praised the high level of professionalism of the Executive Management and Company employees and said their combined strategy led to GPIC exceeding planned production figures. He commended the role of the Company’s Labour Union in cooperating with the Executive Management and contributing in its success at the local, global and regional level.

He said the average daily production for the first quarter of the year was 4,494 metric tonnes. The Company, he added, would continue to achieve more records at all levels as a result of its commitment to the strict implementation of the highest international standards in safety, health and quality and in complying with the highest environmental standards.

Dr. Jawahery said that all of GPIC’s the products are subject to international regulations for environmental quality, occupational health and safety as well as responsible care. He said the Company has obtained the highest honours and awards in this field and stressed it is keen to achieve sustainability in its operations and services to the community.

He said GPIC looks ahead to the challenges and responsibilities for the rest of the year, which require everyone to make more efforts and work as a team. He said the Company’s employees had become accustomed to achieving the set objectives year after year.

In recent years, GPIC has witnessed an rapid growth in production, which has resulted in records not only production, operations and exports, but also in maintenance and occupational safety, making the Company an example of clean and successful industry in the region.

As a result of increasing awareness and commitment to following up on the principle of safety as one of the factors for the success of the Company, GPIC recently recorded 25 million work hours, or 5,456 working days without a lost time accident, which resulted in increased production.

On the human resources side, the Company has shown great interest in the development of its Bahraini workers by providing them specialized courses at home and abroad, workshops on all aspects of the petrochemical industry, and involving them in forums and gatherings.

The Company takes a keen interest in the issues of health, safety, occupational health, environment and social responsibility and it is keen to continue to promote this culture among all the institutions and sectors of society.

The Company also provides all forms of support to, and takes part in, activities organized by civil society organizations, associations, clubs and professional institutions, with a clear vision and meaningful partnership.
