The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) will organise a Sports Day dedicated to walking on February 13.

The event is being held to coincide with the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity and Youth Affairs, to hold a Bahrain National Sports Day.

GPIC employees will take part in the event, to emphasize the importance of exercise in general and walking in particular.

Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery praised the HRH the Prime Minister’s initiative which, he said, reaffirms the unlimited support of the wise Leadership for sport in general and their keenness to make it a lifestyle for all members of society.

Dr. Jawahery spoke of the importance of the role of sport in people’s lives and its impact on the development of society. He said all the nations had devised their own plans, programmes and strategies to celebrate sports.

He said the Company would work on marking the day with programmes and activities, which aims to achieve the objectives of this initiative, and maximize participation.

He said the Kingdom of Bahrain had proved beyond any doubt that it is moving forward in achieving the goals of sustainable human development and building Bahraini citizens physically and mentally, especially with the expected participation of a large segment of citizens and residents in this annual sporting event.
