Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery has praised the constructive role of the Company’s Labour Union and the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation in defending labour issues within a national framework that balances the interests of workers and the nation, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.

Dr. Jawahery spoke about the solid structure of Bahrain’s Labour Union activity, which was established since the launch of the National Action Charter and as part of His Majesty’s reform project.

He said His Majesty is a champion of workers’ rights and founded a comprehensive social justice system that reflected Bahrain’s laws and legislations and the rights of workers and Labour Unions.

Dr. Jawahery applauded the efforts of the Government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and the support of His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to activate His Majesty’s vision.

The President said the Labour Union had set an example of modern Labour Union action and co-operation between the Executive Management and the workers. He said the union had laid the foundation for new thinking in union work, which is unprecedented at the local and regional levels.

He said this enabled Labour Union cadres to assume Executive Management positions within the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation and to gain the confidence of other Labour Unions in economic sectors.

Dr. Jawahery also praised the achievements of the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation since it was set up in 2012. He said these achievements confirm the efficiency and excellence of its Executive Management.
Dr. Jawahery also received Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation Chairman of Executive Council Mr. Yaqoob Yousif Mohammed and its Board Member, Mr. Osama Salman Hassan, in the presence of members of the Executive Management. He congratulated them on their efforts and determination and said this contributed to enriching the workers and helps enhance their knowledge of Labour Union activities.

He said Bahrain had become a model for Labour Union work that considers the interests of the workers and the work they do. He said the union works in defence of labour issues and the establishment of international relations with their counterparts all over the world.

The union also represents Bahrain at international forums and works to achieve more. He said it continues to raise the level of scientific support to the process of international Labour Union activities. This, he said, makes Bahrain proud.

Dr. Jawahery said GPIC has always been confident of its people and realized efficiency alone might not be suitable for excellence at work. In addition, he added, there must be a team that brings out the best of the workers’ motivation and confidence.

He said the Management would continue to work to support its workers and work towards providing opportunities for expertise, academic education and training aimed at providing those with sufficient skills to achieve and gain more.

Mr. Yousef thanked Dr. Jawahery and said it had a great impact on their continued work. He praised Dr. Jawahery’s role in the unlimited support of the labour movement and workers in Bahrain and said he is a role model for employees and workers.

He also praised the keenness shown by GPIC’s Board of Directors to develop and train and train workers so that the Company becomes proud of Bahrain's competence.

He also noted the interest shown by the President and Executive Management, which was keen on providing training programmes and higher education opportunities that ensure the upgrading capabilities and professionalism of the employees while introducing them to the latest developments.

During the last few years, GPIC has taken great strides in the field of development and training in terms of quantity and content, believing in the pivotal role of education and rehabilitation in supporting the comprehensive development process and to achieve the goal of investing in the human element as an engine for development and renaissance.

The Company also shows keen interest in the development of Bahraini human resources by providing specialized courses at home and abroad, conducts workshops on all aspects of the petrochemical industry, and involves its employees in forums and gatherings.
