During his recent visit to the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Executive Vice President for Innovation and Business Development H.E. Mr. Uwaidh bin Khalaf Al Harethi congratulated Board member H.E. Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Omar and President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery for GPIC winning the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Innovation Award.

   

H.E. Mr. Al Harethi praised the Company Management’s efforts to enhance and develop its work and elevate it to the ranks of major international companies. He praised the plans and programmes set up by the Company's Board of Directors to maintain its competitiveness in the midst of the rapid changes taking place in the industry, which resulted on it winning several prestigious awards.

He also praised the Board of Directors' directives regarding the development of its business by applying the latest work systems, which benefit the Petrochemical Sector.

Dr. Jawahery thanked H.E. Mr. Al Harethi for his interest in following up the Company's work, programmes and development projects. He said GPIC had now become one of the largest and most successful industrial companies in the region.

Speaking about the awards, Dr. Jawahery noted their importance in supporting the innovation-based knowledge economy as well as creating a strong incentive to encourage enterprises and companies to. He said the Company deserved such a high award and would continue its excellence at all levels to maintain its supportive role in the economies of contributing countries as well as in employing highly qualified and professional national cadres.

He said GPIC’s success comes in recognition of its outstanding efforts in social, environmental and sustainable development activities. He said the Company takes great care of its role and responsibilities towards others and strives to reduce the environmental damage resulting from operations as part of its endeavor to have a clean industry.

The number of companies competing for the award have seen a significant increase in recent years. The award is supervised by a tribunal whose members, from Gulf Arab states, are competent and experienced. The award is one of the most prestigious for outstanding corporate performance in the UAE and the GCC.

It is part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Foundation’s global initiatives launched by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). It is also one of the most outstanding corporate performance awards in the GCC and aims at supporting the development of the business while promoting a culture of business excellence, inovative performance and institutional excellence.
