A delegation from the General Directorate of Civil Defence, led by Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Ghadeer, inspected the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) complex during the comprehensive periodic maintenance carried out this month.

The inspection came within the framework of the Company’s cooperation with the Ministry of Interior in the field of security and safety and initiatives and to raise awareness of responsible care with competent authorities.

GPIC Fire and Safety Superintendent Mr. Mohamed Hassan Al Isa gave the visitors a detailed explanation of the Company's ongoing maintenance operations and the advance preparations to provide security and safety of personnel and facilities as well as the safe transfer of equipment used and installed at the Company. The delegation then went on an inspection tour to learn more about the progress of maintenance work.

Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said the Board of Directors is keen to ensure the safety and security of all employees within and outside the industrial complex. He said GPIC is constantly following up on developments with international organizations and makes employees and contractors aware of how to respond to emergencies.

He said the administration is keen to coordinate with the General Directorate of Civil Defense in emergency preparedness and commitment to exchange information and knowledge and in the safety and security of individuals and enterprises. He said GPIC provides appropriate training for its security and safety staff in cooperation with representatives of civil defence and other companies.

He said cooperation between companies and the community is part of the strategy of the Board of Directors towards responsible care initiatives.

Dr. Jawahery also praised the close relations between the Company and the General Directorate of Civil Defence. He applauded the great sacrifices made by civil defence personnel to contain accidents and in firefighting. He commended the high levels of commitment and readiness of civil defence personnel and said the tasks assigned to them are difficult tasks and require a lot of responsibility.

Dr. Jawahery thanked the Chairman and Board of Directors for their constant concern and keenness to provide everything that would ensure a safe working environment.

He also noted the existing cooperation with the Joint Defence Committee of companies to ensure all the needs and training and to ensure the safety of the Company and its facilities.

He thanked the General Directorate of Civil Defence for their close cooperation with the Company and their keenness on joint visits. He expressed his wishes to all members of the Civil Defence for success and safety.

He affirmed the appreciation of Bahraini society for the noble message by committed members of the General Directorate of Civil Defence.
